Rachel Kappes, LICSW

Hello,

My name is Rachel, and I’m so glad you’re here.

I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and have been in practice in Washington State since 2020. Though I have worked with individuals across the lifespan throughout my career, I have extensive experience partnering with young adults to navigate life transition, identity, vocation, self-esteem issues, and past trauma.

I also have found great purpose in accompanying women through the joys and heartache of motherhood. Few experiences are as transformative and life-altering as parenthood, and it is my joy to support expectant, new, and seasoned mothers through the anxiety, depression, OCD, and trauma that are often endured privately during the peri and post-natal periods. How many of us sobbed through that first post-birth shower, unsure exactly why we were crying but desperately wishing someone would help us untangle all the emotions? How many of us are wracked with constant mom-guilt and comparison while trying to juggle the mental load?

I cultivate a gentle and trauma-informed environment in which to process pain, develop competency, and embrace new rhythms and norms. As a relational therapist, I believe that some of the most important work we do occurs within the context of a supportive and trusting therapeutic relationship.

My hope is that therapy feels both nurturing and challenging - at once a safe place to land and a space to stretch and grow into the person you desire to be.
